The Provost of the, College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences of the University of Cape Coast, Professor Samuel Yeboah Mensah, has called on Ghanaians to show sympathy and love towards one another no matter the person’s social status.
According to him there is the need to show compassion to the vulnerable since it is the only way to restore hope to the hopeless and the marginalized.
Professor S.Y Mensah made these statements in an exclusive interview with ATL FM, after the federation of UniversitiesSenior Staff Association of Ghana in collaboration with the Teachers and Education Workers Union, University Cape Coast branch, made a cash donation of 4000cedis to Mr. Samuel Davidson to undergo a Kidney surgery.
He commended the association for their support and urged other associations to emulate the gesture.
The chairman of TEWU Stephen Williams urged all to in solidarity support a colleague member like they have done and expressed his utmost appreciation to the members reminding them of their duty to support each other whenever they are in distress.
This he said is the only way to showcase the good bond that exist between members.
On his part, the president of FUSSAG UCC, Daniel Arthur Egyir, said he believe the gesture will go a long way to support the beneficiary.
He called on other benevolent organizations to offer same support to help achieve the needed amount of 20, 0000 Cedis for the surgery.
Mr. Samuel Davidson receiving the donation thanked the two unions for their swift compliance to offer such a great support.
