A gentleman suspected to be a thief was grabbed at Legon Hall on Thursday, February 19, 2015 in the evening. Members of Legon Hall were quick to react to the famous “thief chant” and took hold of the young man who appeared in a decent attire with an empty laptop bag.

An interview with some students revealed that the gentleman appeared to be taking a walk on one of the floors of a female Block. Students claimed to have taken offence because he didn’t seem to be heading to any place in particular.

Details gathered appears a bit sketchy; while some claim the young man is a graduate of University of Ghana, others alleged he had been posing as such for the past two years. Some students didn’t hesitate to hit him as they nabbed him trying to flee from the Main Hall towards Annex B.

It took the intervention of Edmond Nana Kyei popularly known as MTN who whisked the young man and locked him in his room to prevent the angry mob from executing what they termed quick justice.

Security Personnel of the University were alerted and they, together with The Legon Hall JCR President, George Asamoah Sekyi, questioned the young man before he was taken to the security check point for further questioning.
