The National Executive Committee of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) has said that cheques for payment of allowances for National Service Personnel have been released and that Personnel would receive their allowances by close of the week.
A statement issued by its National President, EKOW ASSAFUAH VINCENT, the National Executive Committee says it congratulates all service personnel nationwide for their sense of nationalism, hard work, selfless contributions and dedication to duty. It says it is particularly humbled by the level of maturity and patience service personnel have exhibited for the past two months in the face of the delay in payment of their allowances.
NASPA further commends His Excellency the President, for allowing the National Service Scheme to continue to run and to afford the young people of the country to offer their services to mother Ghana irrespective of the recent challenges that the Scheme is going through as a result of the BNI investigations.
Finally, NASPA says it is calling on all state institutions to emulate NASPA’s patience in times of difficulties and challenges relating to remuneration and resort to resolving issues through dialogue rather than hitting the streets with demonstrations.
