Following the corruption scandal that rocked the National Service Scheme in late 2014, some executives whose names came up have started taking some drastic actions against the state (to redeem themselves) and against themselves.
One such person is the Suhum Municipal National Service Coordinator, Lambert Akansah who was found hanging in his compound over the weekend. Reasons for his action is not immediately know but some people have linked it to the GHC 7.9 million consumption scandal.
Mr. Akansah is one of the 23 people who were named to have engaged in various levels of financial malpractices resulting in their suspension for investigations to continue. The then head of the service, Alhaji Imoro Alhassan was sacked and arrested to help in investigations.
Speaking in an interview with the media, the Osu Doku Police Commander, ASP Francis Ackah said “when we got to his home in, he was hanging on a tree. Some people were saying he looked worried in the past few days but nobody knew what the problem was.
“There are rumors that his involvement in the National Service corruption problem may be the reason but we can’t say for certain if that is the reason. We have started investigations. A post mortem would be carried out on Monday to ascertain the cause of death.”
