The Secretariat of the 8th Pan-African Universities Debating Championship (PAUDC) 2015, under the auspices of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Ernest Aryeetey, will be organizing the most prestigious African debate tournament dubbed “Legon 2015”, from the 8th to the 17th of December, 2015.
Briefly, the PAUDC is an annual debate championship which brings together debaters from tertiary institutions across various African countries to participate in a high level debate championship which uses the globally patronized “Worlds Style” of debating. University of Ghana, through the Sports Directorate, won the bid to host this year’s championship, making it the first PAUDC to be hosted in Ghana. The championship dubbed, “Legon 2015”, plans to use this platform to debate high quality motions that addresses a broad range of issues from topical events within Africa to broad economic policy to philosophical questions to move Africa forward. The Championship also seeks to promote Ghanaian culture and tourism to the other sub regions of the African continent and beyond.
The Pan African Debate Championship Council with its leadership from Zimbabwe, Botswana, Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana would recognize the President of the Republic of Ghana for his leadership role in the fight against Ebola on the African continent during the championship in December.
