The Public Relations Office of KNUST has denied recent claims that hall week celebrations are being banned due to the recent clash between Katanga (University Hall) and Conti (Unity Hall) where 2 students were stabbed.

The Ghanaaian Chronicle, yesterday, reported that the University PRO, Mr. Vincent Lomotey, in a phone interview, revealed to them that hall weeks are being cancelled because of the recent clash between Katanga and Conti. A story that spread like wild fire due to its sensitive nature. (Read full story here)

Despite this claim, Conti, yesterday, proceeded with hall week activities unabated. This cast doubts on many students’ minds as to the truth of the claim of the hall weeks’ ban. therefore engaged both the offices of the Dean of Students and the University Relations Offices of KNUST this morning in a phone interview, and they both vehemently denied the claim of the hall weeks’ ban.

According to the University Relations Office, no such claim was made and the office of the dean also denied awareness of any such embargo and directive to halt hall week celebrations.

This comes as a very relieving assertion as hall weeks are an important part of university life, and its ban will not go down well with the entire university community.
