Software developer Mr.Forson

University of Ghana SRC Electoral Commissioner Rexford Opare has revealed that software developer Mr.Ato Forson will be providing the commission with software for this year’s SRC election.

Speaking on Radio Univers this morning, Mr.Opare stated that Mr.Forson has provided the commission with software for previous elections and thus finds nothing wrong with the use of his software.

Background

It will be recalled that Mr.Ato Forson’s software was used in last year’s election after which some students of the university accused him of manipulating the software to favor eventual winner Davis Ohene Fobi. The said students proceeded to file a petition at the SRC’s Judicial Board challenging the electoral results. The Bureau of National Investigation interfered at a point in time by picking up the software developer for questioning.

The SRC Judicial board while hearing the case ruled that Davis Ohene Fobi, the declared winner at the close of polls be sworn in pending the final determination of the case. The board then adjourned sitting indefinitely.

On Forson’s software

Mr.Opare believes Mr.Forsons Credibility as a software provider is not in doubt.

“So if you are talking about credibility, this is someone who has been able to organize elections for the past years for the university of Ghana, so if we are talking about someone we can even trust and someone who can organize transparent election I think someone who has organized past elections without ever hearing any issue, so notwithstanding what happened last year, so as it stands now we are going by the same Forson as we said earlier”, Opare said.

Mr.Opare also believes it will offer the software developer an opportunity to redeem his image.

“ I think if really forson did a very good job, this is another opportunity for him to redeem his image as an IT developer”

Nominations for this year’s election is expected to be opened by next week.

As I always say, he who goes to sleep with an itching anus wakes up with smelly fingers. We are the immediate stakeholders of this University and I must tell you, if we keep gazing at things like the statues in front of the Balme Library, we will wake up one day only to be told to pay for extra classes in this institution. I bet you see that as an exaggeration but trust me, there are far more outrageous practices going on within the walls of the University Of Ghana. Did you know, it is illegal to increase fees above 10% of the initial amount? Yes, that is the legality of the issue. Yet, students reading BSc. pay fees with as much as 25% increment. Let me leave that standing for another bad day.
Let me tell you the breaking news on campus. Mr. Rexford Opare, the SRC Electoral Commissioner University of Ghana has revealed that software developer Mr.Ato Forson will be providing the commission with software for this year’s SRC election. , Mr.Opare stated that Mr.Forson has provided the commission with software for previous elections and thus finds nothing wrong with the use of his software. It will be recalled that Mr.Ato Forson’s software was used in last year’s election after which some students of the university accused him of manipulating the software to favor eventual winner Davis Ohene Fobi. The SRC Judicial board while hearing the case ruled that Davis Ohene Fobi, the declared winner at the close of polls be sworn in pending the final determination of the case. The board then adjourned sitting indefinitely. The first consent I want to raise is that, if an SRC president has nine (9) months of office and there is a question on the validity of the elections, should the SRC Judicial Board adjourn sitting indefinitely? Does it mean they are comfortable with someone who is allegedly not legitimate to lead us? Above all, should the General Assembly decide to use the same software that cannot be justified? This has been a premise the entire students are waiting for it to be affirmed or disproved.
Mr.Opare believes Mr.Forson’s credibility as a software provider is not in doubt. He went on to say that it will offer the software developer an opportunity to redeem his image. Just imagine, do we redeem something we never lost? If Mr. Forson really lost his software-integrity as insinuated by our Honorable Electoral Commissioner, what does it tell us about the results of the past election?
Fellow students, it is only a stupid cow that rejoices at the prospect of being taken to a beautiful abattoir. Let us advocate for free and just SRC elections this year. Do not hesitate to use all laudable tools available to you to fight the fight of justice. Remember, a flea can trouble a lion more than a lion can trouble a flea. We are over 36,000 students and our leaders have to consider our interests even in their choice of meals.
