University of Ghana have emerged as winners of the 19th Inter-university Cross Country competition held at the Casford field, University of Cape Coast.
University of Ghana placed first in both the Male and Female Divisions of the competition with forty five (45) points and forty seven (47) points respectively.
University of cape coast came second with fifty five (55) and fifty four (54) points in the Male and Female categories. University of Education also placed third in both categories with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and University of Professional Studies placing forth.
With the individual wins, Misiso Yayra Manah (University of Ghna) placed first, Faustina Twumwaa Gyimah (University of Ghana) placed second and Issifu Ramatu placed the third position in the female category.
In the male category, Akuka Williams (University of Ghana) came first, Adukpo Godwin (University of Education, Winneba) came second and Emmanuel Duah (University of Cape Coast) came third.
Professor Domwini Dabire Kuupole, Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, addressing the gathering at the closing ceremony, noted that, Sporting activities are great networks for enhancing development in a country.
“Sporting activities are used to network, they are used for development, to develop the talents, to develop the potential and to develop the total human being. Let us use these activities to champion the course of our national development” he advised.
The winners each received cash prizes from the Organizers. Presenting the trophies to the winning University, Professor Domwini Dabire Kuupole, congratulated the Sports Section of the University of Cape Coast for such great innovations.
