SECOND FEMALE PRESIDENT OF UG-SRC, ESINAM AFI SEADE

THE STUDENTS’ REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL
UNIVERSITY OF GHANA, LEGON
Thursday, 22nd December, 2016.

SUBJECT: DISCLAIMER

On Tuesday, 20th December, 2016, the SRC President, Miss Esinam Afi Seade was on Radio Univers to discuss issues pertaining to the council. Our attention has been drawn to rather false and malicious articles as to the said interview; one by Campus Graphic and other by UG File. The said articles sought to paint the wrong picture that the activities of the council have been seriously hampered by the change in government. This is very false.

Dare 2 Start was organised by the SRC in conjunction with the government through the YES initiative. However due to the impending nature of the elections at the time, the government decided to hold on with the awards till elections were over. Today, elections are over, but what puts government’s commitment to Dare 2 Start in question is the fact that they are now burdened with transition. As a result this has caused the prizes to delay.

The SRC President, Esinam Afi Seade simply expressed her concern over the delay and stated that the council has doubled efforts to ensure that the winners get their prizes on time. It is rather unfortunate how the publishing parties in question chose to defame the council and misrepresent the submissions of the SRC President. Kindly find attached to this release is a recording of the interview held on Radio Univers regarding this particular issue.

Again, we reiterate that the interest of students is still the primary focus. We do hope you disregard any other article after reading the truth from this one.

Thank you.
