and Woman’s Commissioner.
The rest of the portfolios continues today;however,Out of the aspirants vetted; five were allegely disqualified because of incomplete filling of nomination forms. Two of the affected aspirants were going for NUGS Secretary, another two for NUGS treasurer and last one contesting as Woman’s Commissioner.
It was during this process of the vetting, that the local local NUGS President, H. E Karim Abdul Azong who came as an observer was found standing. The SRC PRO, Hon. Sampson Adortey Junior, who was the secretary for the vetting committee that night found the need to tell the NUGS President to be seated to avoid destruction. This statement by the SRC PRO didn’t go down well to the NUGS President and he reacted. Some supporters of the NUGS president from Uncleco Hostel expressed dissatisfaction with regards to how the PRO “commanded” Hon.Karim to sit.
Vetting was adjourned about 23:30GMT and it took Security personnels who were present to guide the SRC PRO to take his bike home.
In a separate interview with some students who were present, majority of them revealed their displeasure with the SRC PRO’s statements whiles few of them saw nothing wrong with that.
It is in line with this that, the SRC PRO has now rendered an apology via text message to the personal number of the NUGS President as well as a press release on the various WhatApp platforms
Below is the full apology letter from the SRC PRO to the Local NUGS President.
LETTER OF APOLOGY.
I upon reflection and in the wake of receiving a notification from a student do hereby render an honest and humble apology to the NUGS President, Karim Abdul Azong and his office. It must be noted that my action to draw the NUGS President’s attention to the standing orders of the house might not have gone down well with him. I would like to state emphatically that I have rendered an apology to the persons present and also to him personally via text. This was a result of severally calls placed to him via a colleagues phone went unanswered.
H.E the NUGS President has been a long time friend, we have eaten together, shared the same room whilst on an assignments and continues to be a good friend to me. I in no way would demean his office and I am surprised at the extent to which a humble but loud request for him to take his seat should be an insult.
I would want to end that as a peace loving person I appreciate that when one goes of the line you whip him back to line. I accept that I erred and humbly apologize.
To a continuous and peaceful friendship!
To a brotherly Union!
Sampson Adotey Jnr
