Each Student on Campus to pay GH100 to Buy Power Plants for Halls – Legon

UPDATE ON THE PURCHASE OF POWER GENERATING PLANTS FOR HALLS OF RESIDENCE

The SRC and GRASAG wishes to inform all students that the initial amount of GH¢ 140.00 that was required to of all students as cost for the purchase of the power generating plants has been reduced to GH¢ 100.00 which is to be paid by all students excluding non- residents and students from Accra City Campus.

An amount of GH¢ 50.00 would therefore be paid between two semesters to cover for the full cost, beginning the second semester of the 2014/2015 academic year.

This agreement was reached with the University Management after series of negotiations and hard work on the part of the executives and others who have the interest of students at heart.
The procurement of the power plants are in their final stages and would be installed during the second semester of the 2014/2015 academic year.

Also, the SRC and GRASAG wishes to sympathize with all sellers at the “night market”. The current situation is of great worry to us as student leaders and we are working closely with the sellers, Physical Development and Municipal Services Directorate and university management to ensure that the situation is managed properly and a befitting structure built to ensure the health and safety of students when school reopens.

We call on students to remain calm even as we work hard to defend their interests.
