Slash 7,600 Cedis From Approved SRC Budget- Azamati Petitions Dean

A final year student of the University of Ghana, Ebenezer Azamati has petitioned the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. James Adomako, requesting that some amounts in the 2015 SRC Budget should not be made available to the Council.

The petition dated 2nd October 2015, also calls on the Dean of Student Affairs to investigate the difference in amount allotted as Residential Allowance for the four Executive Officers (SRC President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer).

Azamati on Printing

The petition requests the Dean not to make the amount of 2,200 cedis alloted for printing and photocopy, available for the Executives.

“In my view, the above expenses on printing and photocopy is too huge an amount to be granted; this my view derives its relevance from the fact that, the above amount slated for photocopy and printing worths a printer, hence I would like to humbly suggest that should the said amount be granted, it should come with a condition which would compel the officers of the SRC to acquire these equipment. The acquisition of a printer would save successive SRC leaders from incurring huge costs on printing and photocopying; and such funds could be rechanneled into other sectors such as the Yibi boa scholarship fund”, Azamati states.

Azamati on Transportation

Azamati has this to say on Transportation in the petition,

“Worthy of your attention again is an amount of five thousand four hundred Ghana Cedis which has been sanctioned for transportation expenses for various committees of the SRC aside a certain three thousand Ghana Cedis that has been estimated for fuel and driver’s allowances”, Azamati argues.

Azamati calls for Investigation

The former Deputy Speaker of the SRC General Assembly is also seeking for an investigation into the amount alloted as Residential Allowance. He also has some reservations about the SRC paying for the allowance of the caretaker of the Union Building-Office Complex of the SRC.

“Moreover, I would like to humbly find out from your outfit whether or not it is the university that caters for the allowances of the caretaker of the union building. This my question stems from a certain four hundred Ghana Cedis that has been estimated for allowances for the care taker of the union building”

“Final among my issues on which I request your investigations is the differences in the residential fees of the four officers of the SRC”
The petition if granted, will result in a total of 7,600 slashed from the SRC Budget. will be keeping readers up to speed with developments as and when they occur.
