Prince Dagadu tops as Maxwell Agbagba, Mikdad Mohammed and others pick awards as well-Report 2015 SRC Excellence Awards


Prince Dagadu won the coveted accolade as the most Influential Student of the year at the 2015 University of Ghana 2015 S.R.C Excellence Awards. The awards ceremony was held on 30th April 2015 at the Great Hall.
The event which was expected to begin at 6:30pm commenced at about 9pm. This however did not take away the shine from the colorful event. The dress code for the event provided good pictures for the cameras. As men donned their black suit and bow tie, the beautiful ladies appeared in their beautiful evening dress.
The Excellence Award Board Chairman, Duke Opoku Mensah explained the essence of the gathering at the start of the event. He apologized for the late start, and re-echoed the age long opinion of the need for institutions to celebrate their own. This he stressed, encourages people to keep working hard. The S.R.C President, Joshua Dogbe in his speech touched on some achievements of his administration and thanked the student body for their support so far.

The Government of the Republic of Ghana had the Deputy Minister of communication, Honorable Ato Sarpong as its representative for the event. The minister, who was the Chairperson for the occasion, commended the S.R.C for organizing such an event. He also encouraged students to continue to display their talents to gain the admiration of viewers. This he explained will enable viewers to attest to the talents of such persons in future.

Side attraction
Some thrilling performances on the night blew the minds of students. U.K, a student of the University performed using a piano. He performed a medley of contemporary Ghanaian and foreign music. Poet Toffic Gombilla also excited audience with a poem about social media.

Mikdad Mohammed and Davis Ohene Fobi (Candidates in 2015 S.R.C elections) performed a duet with a song by Daasebr3 Dwamena to the admiration of onlookers. Mikdad Mohammed won award for the most promising student activist of the year. Host of Comfort zone and Campus Exlusive on Radio Univers Maxwell Agbagba won the Student Journalist of the year.
