Last week, 5th March, 2015, Steward Osei Bawuah, a service person on University of Ghana Legon campus decided to celebrate his birthday with some needy students of La Bawaleshie Presby School, by donating school uniforms to them to help support their education. He chose to celebrate his birthday this way rather than the usual fun parties with friends, and says it was even a lot more fun and fulfilling than he had expected.
The best part is, he does not plan on leaving it as a one-time thing nor as something that he and maybe a few others do. Steward believes this could, and should be, the new fun way for people to celebrate their birthdays while making a huge impact on the lives of others. He has therefore, with this birthday only as its first of many projects to come, set up the Childlift Aid Foundation – My BDay Impact.
My BDay Impact requires and helps its participants to celebrate their birthday with needy school children, and donate what little educational materials that they can, to help support the children’s education.
Steward is no son of a politician or business tycoon. He is an average person who lives within average means. In an interview with ugfile.com, he revealed that he hasn’t really celebrated many birthdays in the past but now feels that this is the best way to celebrate his birthday if he had to. He remarked that once you realise the huge difference that some of the things you take for granted can make in the lives of those who really need them, it becomes very easy to give and share.
He therefore wishes to use this platform or any other platform his message is shared, to encourage everyone to join in his new fun and benevolent way to celebrate birthdays. Anyone who wants to sign up for My BDay Impact with Childlift Aid Foundation can visit their website; www.childliftaid.org, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call +233 024 098 9801. NB: You don’t need a lot of money to be a part.
