KNUST STUDENT KNOCKED DOWN BY SPEEDING CAR ON CAMPUS

A male student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), name withheld, was knocked down by a Toyota Corolla vehicle close to Africa Hall around 1:00pm Today.

Eye-witnesses, according to myJCR, indicated that the driver of the vehicle with registration number GE 987 Y was speeding on the road that links Unity Hall, through the Chancellor’s Hall (Hall 7) to the Commercial area when he veered off the road and knocked down the student who was standing by his motorbike off the road.

The car finally crushed into a concrete drainage and then a tree before coming to an abrupt stop.

The motorist who appeared to have fractured his right leg was rushed to the University Hospital together with the driver for medical care.

It was also gathered that the driver of the Toyota Corolla is a staff of the Manhyia Hospital, and he tried to make a run for it when people started coming to the scene. He took off the number plate at the back of the car and tried walking away but was apprehended by campus security.
