Free Health Screening for Sarbah Hall Residents by University of Ghana Nursing Students

As part of activities to mark the 55th Mensah Sarbah Hall week celebration, the University of Ghana Nursing Students Association (UGHANSA), in collaboration with Sarbah Hall JCR and the Korle Bu blood bank organized a comprehensive health screening and blood donation exercise for residents of the hall on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.

The event, held in the quadrangle of the main hall, lasted between 9am to 4pm with over 400 students screened on Blood pressure(BP), Body mass index(BMI), Weight, and HIV. Over 70 blood donations were also done during the process.

At the close of activities for the day, the UGHANSA President, Mr. Vincent Owusu Appiah expressed his excitement about the success of the event.

Speaking on what informed the decision of UGHANSA to organize such an activity, he noted that it is part of the social responsibilities of the association to collaborate with other clubs, unions and organizations on campus to promote optimum health and well being of members of the university community while projecting a good image of the School of Nursing. He added that, these events offer perfect opportunities to student nurses to put their skills into practice.
