Day 3 Of #LiveWire Experience; Free Health Screening For Legon Students


As part of activities for the 2015 Legon SRC week celebration, popularly christened as the #LivewireBlowout, the SRC in collaboration with the University Of Ghana Nursing Students Association (UGHANSA), brought a comprehensive health screening to the doorsteps of students on campus.

Final year students of the University of Ghana Nursing School conducted the health screening together with representatives from Korle Bu Blood Bank to facilitate blood donations. The entire event took place at the Union Building and participants were screened on Blood Pressure (BP), Body Mass Index (BMI), Random Blood Sugar Levels (RBS), HIV, breast examination for female students, as well as counseling on general health concerns.

With over 300 students screened by the close of the program, the UGHANSA President Mr. Vincent Owusu Appiah expressed excitement over the success of the screening. He added that the School of Nursing would continue to conduct such activities inuring to the benefit of the University community as well as giving opportunities to student Nurses to put their skills into practice.

The SRC week celebration was launched on Sunday, November 1, 2015 with a gospel explosion and continues with Breakfast With Celebrities on Wednesday, November 4, 2015.
