A CIVIL WAR WILL BE MORE EXPENSIVE THAN A NEW CREDIBLE VOTER’S REGISTER – A.C.T.S

A.C.T.S ADVICES AND CAUTIONS MRS. CHARLOTTE OSEI (E.C BOSS)

There is an adage which is so dear to our hearts that goes like “when two elephants fight, it’s the grass that suffers the most”. We as students have heard the stories of many countries that have suffered as a result of leaders who proved to be so recalcitrant to the ordinary citizens. Among Such countries are; BURUNDI, RWANDA, LIBYA, LIBERIA, UGANDA, IVORY COAST and many others, and Ghana is no different if its citizens are being denied fairness or justice.

We decided to sit back and listen to the stakeholders’ and opinion leaders’ concerns about the current voter’s register which has been alleged, by the NPP, to be far from being a credible one. Now, let’s take a critical look at the people who have talked about the register after the NPP, the main opposition party, raised their concerns.

1. NANA KONADU AGYEMANG RAWLINGS (FOUNDER OF NDP)

This is the wife of the founder of NDC, the ruling party, and according to her, the voters register is bloated. The Foreigners in it are even more than we the Ghanaians and hence, the E.C must change it with immediate effect.

2. NATIONAL PEACE COUNCIL

Indeed, a country that disregards these people has no future and it’s our prayer that we hold these personalities in high esteem. According to these men of God, once there has been a clear evidence that foreigners have been found in our voter’s register, they see no reason why the E.C boss is wasting time in changing it.

3. H.E EX-PREZ RAWLINGS

This is one respected political icon in the country and the founder of the ruling party, NDC. To him, the country will not be on a safe side if we dare to go for elections wiith the current voter’s register, hence there is the need to change it. Despite the noise from his own party, he still managed to tell Ghanaians that the register is bloated and therefore must be changed.

4. H.E EX-PREZ JOHN AGYEKUM KUFFOUR

This is another man who knows better than we do and of course, we are nowhere near his status when it comes to leadership. He said that, the country cannot afford to experience what he foresees if we intend going for elections with the current voter’s register. He also attested to the fact that the voter’s register is rather over bloated and must be changed with immediate effect.

5. DR. PAPA KWESI NDUOM

This is the fine and respected president of NDUOM GROUP of companies and the founder of PPP. He added his voice that indeed, the voter’s register is over bloated.

Despite all these attestation, majority of the NDC insist that we should go with the current voter’s register. He who has read much about UTILITARIANISM will join hands with us to admonish the E.C to pay attention to the advice of these great leaders mentioned above as well as the many ordinary citizens who share the view that the voter’s register is bloated, and change it as soon as possible. The people of Ghana need a new register. Once it’s changed, we will have a clean register which none of the parties can stand to accuse the E.C of holding an unfair election after the 2016 general elections.
